I ALWAYS use a lunge whip with my horses. I rarely touch my horse with it. I only use it has an extension of my arm and give my horse ques with it. Just like this lady here. I find when riders don’t use lunge whip there is a lack of respect from the horse and they become sloppy on the lunge which can translate over when your actually riding. I think its better to have a lunge whip and not need it. than not have a whip and need it.
@jumpergirls Thank you Jumpergirls, and yes, a lounge whip is only an extention of your arm – it serves to drive the horse forward and should always be held in the hand pointing towards the hind quarters. It is usually not necessary to make contact with the horse.
To improve confidence, you dont ride a horse backwards, you ride it properly and more often to improve confidence, theres just no point in riding it backwards :S
Because all she was doing on it was sitting there holding onto the saddle, but if you were riding forward you’d actually be doing something and improving your riding and confidence
I love this video. I would trust my 4 year old daughter to train with Gayle. Finalfurlong1….I don’t think you know what you are talking about. I would like to see finalfurlong1 balance on a saddle and turn around!
Just because my channel has hardly anything on means nothing about teaching horseback lessons, and your right, I dont teach because I’m 14 years old, but Ive had 3 instructors (all great fully qualified) but they dont make you ride backwards to ‘improve confidence hahaha
For your your information, I have won 8 competitions, have the potential to be a jockey as I have a weekend job in a racing stable and some people to the comment I made about riding ‘backwards’ to heart. Some people just need to relax, I dont care if yous think I’m wrong cause I have achived alot in such a short amount of time, more than you’s maybe ever will…
Congratulations on your life’s successes! You’ve failed to addressed, however, my first assumption i.e. you’ve never taught horseback riding to children. Knowing how to ride and teaching children to ride are two entirely different things!!
Probably because you are already overconfident. However, I woudl still suggest you give it a try…you might just find it “fun” since you already have all the confidence you need! Riding should be fun as well as instructive.
Just because I have never taught riding, doesnt mean I dont know what Im on about, but if you think sitting on a horse backwards is helping improve confidence and ‘balance’ (even though literally she is just sitting there) then thats fine with me… Im not over confident, Im just a good rider with potential
Get a grip of yourself man, I only said (in my opinion) that personally sitting on a horse backwards wont improve confidence and balance, your acting as if its some big deal
Alls I was saying really was, I think if you ride properly and often enough then that will improve your confidence, balance and riding, theres no need to go on the way you have, call yourself a trainer, what if one of your kids (who you teach) said ‘i dont think riding backwards is improving my riding’ would you say ‘I would assume youve never taugh horseback riding before’ all you had to say was ‘well i think it does improve your confidence’ or something, not go on ridiculous like that

@123cheergirly123 Riding backwards (with assistance) helps to build her confidence and balance.

From your comment, I would assume you’ve never taught horseback riding to children; after viewing your channel, it’s obvious you haven’t!!

Finalfurlong…Interesting that you have the need to post your resume? Teaching is the subject, Not EGO
