Southwestern
Even though our homes are decorated tastefully many times our bathrooms are a forgotten area as nothing special is added except a shower curtain and towels. Even though towels and a shower curtain are important and necessary items a lot more can be done to create a wonderful appealing bathroom. A comfortable bathroom helps us stay clean and refreshed. A busy family creates the need for a special place like a bathroom where a parent may go to escape for a few minutes. Loving southwestern things will cause you to want to decorate your bathroom in a style that reflects your interests. Decorating your bathroom in a southwest theme will be a wonderful contribution to your homes decor.
Bright and cheerful colors should be used in your bathroom. Your room is much like the palette of an artist. When decorating the master bath and bedroom should follow the same style of decorating scheme. A guest bathroom is much easier to decorate due to the fact that it stands alone. However both can be a fun and an enjoyable room to decorate.
When contemplating a southwest theme there are a lot of different styles from which to choose. All may be incorporated or a single style may be used. The many choices include rustic western and ranch Native American Mexican and Spanish and old mission. Due to the fact that most bathrooms are small for best results choose your southwest accent pieces and accessories carefully. Make it a room that reflects the things you love.
The lid on your toilet may be replaced with a hand painted lid with a southwest scene. We should never have to use the same type of toilet lid covers our grandparents used. A hand painted toilet lid with a western scene is an unusual place to find art. It can be anything from cowboy boots or a cattle drive to an old stagecoach riding wildly through the western desert. Let your imagination run wild. And you must admit its an unusual place to display artwork. Youll certainly be sure of receiving comments from family and friends.
There are many other unique items that can be incorporated into your southwest bathroom. A great addition would be a large Indian basket in which to place rolled towels or a Mexican basket to use as a clothes hamper. Smaller baskets also work great to hold trial size lotions and shampoos. The soap dish and Kleenex box as well as tooth brush holder could be made of painted Mexican pottery such as the famous Talavera. Remember that artwork can give the bathroom a southwest personality. Accent pieces could include western towel racks and a punched tin mirror. For a romantic and restful touch be sure to use southwest style candle holders around your jucuzzi tub.
There are many southwest patterned towels and shower curtains on the market today which would bring in bright and bold colors. A nice alternative to the normal bath mat would be to use a Zapotec runner in front of your tub to catch water drips and protect your flooring. A kiva ladder standing upright on which to hang folded towels and anything made of barbed wire gives your southwestern bathroom a look of rustic charm. Just as personalities differ no two southwest bathrooms will come out identical. One thing is certain however. After visiting your southwest bathroom your guests will certainly come out with a smile.
