Erm… I rode English for like 3 1/2 years before switching to western but I have to say, western is my preference! I like how the reins are loose and how the rider and horse are really a team because with cutting it’s 50/50 on horse and rider! Not meant to insult any English rider though!

@halfgoodhalfevil i TOTALLY agree!!! i had that problem with my horse… :P so i just rode bareback xD hahaha

haha i love the mini’s jumping, too cutee!! I ride english, and LOVEE it, i love jumpin’ and i lovee training ponies English !! x

I think it’s more 80% horse and 20% with cutting. It’s unusual to see somebody like a riding style better than the one they learned. Like your username btw :)

Aww, thanks. I guess your right. I compete in reining and reined cow horse events and there I think it really is 50/50. I just love the trust factor in western, I never really got that in English. But something I have to point out, is that somebody had to train that cutting horse so it really depends on how well the horse is trained. :)

srry but i like western better cuz tht is all i have done for 6 years and not to say i dont like eng. bet i like western better

    7. Teacup2610 Says:

I ride neither :D i’ve ridden (? i’m not english:b please correct me!) english riding in 5-6 years, but now i’ve changed to academic riding and i LOVE it :D

I think all kinds of riding has its bad and good sides. for example, in my opinion, english riders have very short reins, but the horses can do amazing stuff, jumping high and beatifull dressage. Western riders can make the horse do amazing stuff too, sliding stop etc, but they have a very strong mouthpiece/bit… so it depends on the rider

western is good, but with english you can do dressage and i looovee dressage

hei there, i am from germany and i am a western rider! but i was riding english a few years ago. i love the western scene. not only the riding! love the horses, the people and i love that everybodys relaxed. i think western is better because of the reins.the horse can look around and stretch its neck! for me: never go back to english!!! greetings to my trainer ;)

I ride English but I’ve always wanted to try Western and my friends are always telling me to try haha, but I doubt my pony would be impressed in dramatic tack changes.. since I barely ever use saddles anyway :L
